Formed in London in 1992 by singer and songwriter David Christian, Comet Gain were originally inspired by early Creation Records, Television Personalities and mod culture. On the upcoming record, Comet Gain are David Christian (vocals, guitar), Ben Phillipson (guitar), Rachel Evans (vocals), Robin Christian (percussion), Anne Laure Guillain (keyboards) and Clientele bassist James Hornsey, with additional vocal, brass and keyboard contributions from producer Sean Read (Dexys, Edwyn Collins, Rockingbirds).

Comet Gain singer David Christian says about “Beat of the Veins”, the first single of the upcoming album: “A fuzz edged stomper with echoes of 60s UK freakbeat and snarly pop bomp from those sweaty ballroom days - a rare occasion of both David (me) and Rachel sharing the microphone to convey the direct hits of the life saving musical adrenalin rushing through your body to hit the heart just when it needs it - to be played loud so your body and soul get the purest benefit of its raw medicine”

The album “Letters to Ordinary Outsiders” will be released on June 6th - preorders are available for CD,  limited pink vinyl and regular black vinyl.

Two years after “The Candle and the Flame”, Robert Forster releases a new album on Tapete Records. 

As the story goes, Forster ate a bowl of extraordinarily delicious strawberries - all by himself. His wife Karin Bäumler not only forgave her husband, she actually joined him on a duet of what was to become the title song to his ninth solo album. “What can ordinary be?” is its wistful question, befitting the life's work of Robert Forster who has perfected the art of being outré in a least ostentatious way, from his time in the Go-Betweens to his solo career, now spanning almost three decades, interrupted only by the old band's reformation in 2000 which ended with his songwriting partner Grant McLennan's untimely death in 2006. The album will be released on May 23rd.

The new single by Die Anteile, ‘Pelzwerk’, tells of the longing for intensity and short-lived closeness. Out of the day, into the night: ‘I can do little, but / You would be enough for me / The evening is drawing in / Inclination arises / Finally something has happened’. The Berlin duo make generous use of synth lines on this track, using bass, drum machine and synthesiser disguised as guitar. ‘Pelzwerk’ is the fourth single from Die Anteile's album of the same name, which will be released on April 25, 2025.  

Louis Philippe and The Night Mail return with a new captivating record where the songs are once again faultless. Carrying on the journey away from the classic towards the unexpected with new synths and hand claps adding a sense of the abrupt and, with voices calling from the wings, a sense of play and a lack of fear.

Reason enough to dedicate an entire album to the Austrian capital. The idea for this came about when Dorau and two friends were working on a map of Lübeck and exploring its untold stories away from the usual attractions. Dorau became fascinated with portraying a city from the perspective of an unbiased tourist, visitor and outsider.

The Loft notched up an impressive list of firsts for Creation Records’ artists back in the mid-80s. First Creation band on TV, first to hit the top of the indie singles chart, first to be invited on to a major UK tour and first Creation band to record a coveted BBC radio session - for Janice Long’s Radio One show in 1984. Then they split up. 39 years after the bitter break-up, the band got back together and it seemed to be time to record their debut album.

Trust Fund, the musical project of singer-songwriter Ellis Jones, comes back with his fifth album Has It Been A While?, recorded earlier this year in Sheffield by producer and close friend Joe Mackenzie Todd.

For Jones, the key challenge of the record was creating something that felt both comfortable and challenging: “I think it’s an ambitious record –but it’s quietly ambitious. I wanted to make something that explored a specific aesthetic, but that might still be diverse and engaging across thirty-five minutes. Creating the string arrangements took me totally out of my comfort zone – I don’t read music – and I’m very proud that I’ve produced something that was more or less what I had in mind. I have a lot more time for good musicianship, when it’s applied well, and the idea of self-improvement.”
